Programme of the day
From Dorio we reach Mandonico, a nucleus of rustic houses built of local stone where time seems to have stood still. The route now becomes spectacular and the mule track quickly gains altitude to the chapel of San Rocco (484 m), in an extraordinarily panoramic position. At altitude we pass above the small lake of Piona, on the slopes of Monte Sparese (566 m), where we stop for a picnic lunch. We then continue downhill on a dirt road to Posallo (420 m). From here we cross the Perlino stream and then take the path that climbs steeply to a small church, also known as the church of San Rocco (15th century) and descend to Colico, where we take the train back to Dorio.

NB: You will find a few fountains along the route where you can fill your water bottle.
