The Zuccone Campelli ring, a very varied and adventurous route, among rock formations reminiscent of the Dolomites.
From Barzio, we ascend by cable car to the Piani di Bobbio (1640 m), where we begin the traverse. Crossing the ski slopes, we take to the foot of the rocky massif that we will circumvent, the Zuccone Campelli, walking for short stretches on the snow cover of the residual snowfield.
On reaching Bocchetta dei Mughi (2010m), a wide view opens up over the Orobie Bergamasche. The landscape is very special, an up and down between meadows full of flowers and imposing vertical cliffs. We arrive in Artavaggio, the Cazzaniga Merlini refuge. We have a packed lunch near the hut and descend on the south side of the valley, a lush, green landscape, quite distinct from the almost lunar environment seen in the morning.
We take the well-known Sentiero degli Stradini, a path close to the rock walls of the Zucco di Pesciola. The path has short exposed sections equipped with a metal cable. The itinerary unfolds with continuous ups and downs, always remaining at altitude and does not present any particular difficulties except for the attention that must be paid in the exposed sections (always assisted by the steel cables). The panorama is truly special!
We reach the Bobbio plateau near the Lecco Refuge, from which we shortly return to the cable car via the meadows of the slope.
What to bring for the excursion:
Hiking boots, water, packed lunch, trekking polesessential, crampons recommended (some short sections on snow) spare T-shirt, jumper or fleece, protection from rain and wind.
