A walk away from the crowd! (And the guide carries the bottle of wine…)
We start out from Barni, a ‘posing village’ with the splendid blow-ups in the alleys of the hamlet telling us about the trades of times gone by. Passing by the ancient church of San Pietro e Paolo , we enter the woods, passing in front of the mysterious “cadrega del diaul”.
We continue past the restaurant “La Madonnina”. but we point elsewhere ! to Mount Colla and then up and down Mount Oriolo (the name perhaps derives from gold, due to the presumed fertility of the soil). The path is dotted with erratic boulders and the extraordinary burrows of a badger colony. We descend on a little-used path from the eastern slope to the idyllic Crezzo pond and from there we return among the chestnut trees to the village of Barni.
An unusual excursion, little-trodden paths to enjoy nature in peace and quiet.
