An incredible botanical garden in the Valsassina mountains, the most beautiful blooms in June.
A ring-route in the little-visited Mughi valley, among scree, rocks and high-altitude meadows, the alpine flora shows itself in all its beauty: pulsatille, anemones, gentians, perhaps already some rhododendrons, soldanellas and more.
We pass under the climbing routes of the Falesia dell’Era Galciale at Zuccone Campelli and climb up to the 2,087 m Corna Grande , which overlooks the Bergamasque Valtorta and where the panorama becomes really wide.
Along the way on what was once the seabed millions of years ago , we can admire the romantic heart-shaped Conchodon fossils (popular legends interpret them instead as… the devil’s hooves).
So flora, geology, sunshine at high altitude and maybe even some marmot or chamois whistles (yes, chamois also ‘whistle’, albeit in a more ‘breathy’ manner).

LENGTH: 6 km approx.
MEETING POINT: 8.30 a.m. at the GALLI EZIO car park in via Fiandra 15, Lecco. From there with a few cars we reach the Barzio cableway in about 30 minutes
Cost: 20 € + cost of cable car round trip 18 € – parking in Barzio for a fee
What to bring: water ! backpack, clothing suitable for the altitude, poles. PACKED LUNCH
Difficulty: Mountain trails with some steep sections. Little shade!
