Simple and absolutely scenic excursion with a visit to the lead mines at Piani Resinelli.

We plunge into the bowels of the earth to learn about the places where lead, silver and zinc were mined as early as 1500. A guide will take us through caves and tunnels to discover the mines, evidence of the hard work with which our grandparents and great-grandparents earned their living.

Having resurfaced, we enter the Valentino Park via a comfortable mule track that is not very steep. We pass the House Museum of Villa Gerosa and continue along the dirt track through a thick forest of beech and ash trees to a clearing. Here we find the viewing platform overhanging the valley below, opening up views of Lake Como, the Briantei lakes, Monte Barro and the Corni di Canzo. We continue our route for another 20 minutes to the top of Monte Coltignone, where we will enjoy a new view of the lake. From here we ascend slightly further to Cima Caloden where we can admire the Southern Grigna. With a loop route we return to the starting point.
