Bellagio stretches from the well-known hamlet of Borgo to the summit of Monte San Primo at an altitude of 1,682 metres and has over 15 hamlets. Did you know? With this wonderful spring walk we explore just a few of them: Pescallo, Oliverio, Casate; Suira, Loppia.. Discovering secret corners, little stories and places a little different from the more touristy ones.
Along the way, we discover some corners of nature, more or less accessible to the public: an olive grove that was a landing strip, a ‘vialone’ seemingly mysterious in its size. And after seeing the last example of a ‘Larian gondola’, we enter one of the most famous gardens on the Lario. The park of Villa Melzi, the most landscaped, an invitation to serene contemplation of such beauty. Calmly, telling anecdotes about this 19th-century villa (Napoleon’s hand is in it!) we walk through it until we reach the Borgo. After so much peace, are you ready for the tourists’ Bellagio? Walking along the narrow stairways we enjoy finding less crowded corners here too, such as the panoramic public gardens or the ‘Addams family house’. Passing along the walls of Bellagio’s largest estate (Villa Serbelloni, now the Rockefeller Foundation) we return to Pescallo, a romantic little port that concludes our unusual tour of the most classic of lakeside villages.
