Spectacular arch between the summit of the Grigna and Lake Como
The Porta di Prada is an unparalleled art form modelled by Mother Nature! We reach this magnificent rock arch starting from Cainallo (Esino Lario) and continue to the Bietti Refuge, below the summit of the Northern Grigna, overlooking Lake Como.
From the Vò di Moncodeno car park (1430 m.a.s.l.), we walk through a beech wood (in some places a little exposed, but 2 m wide) to the Bocchetta di Prada. We reach the 89th brigade bivouac, learn about the history of the partisans to whom it is dedicated, and shortly afterwards arrive at Porta di Prada, where we stop to take photos and discover its origins. We continue with a few ups and downs to the Rifugio Bietti hut, admire the beautiful view of the lake, have something to eat and by 14.00 we resume the route back to our cars.
