An easy hike, off the beaten track, through ancient towers, medieval churches, rivers, waterfalls, and a deserved Aperitivo, the way we do it in Italy!

Schedule for the day

We’ll meet at Mandello train station, just a few minutes train journey away from tourist spots such as Varenna, Bellano, Lierna or Lecco. Walking across the town centre, past the famous Moto Guzzi museum, we’ll hit the trail that follows river Meria, all the way to Somana, one of Mandello’s beautiful hamlets on the hilltop. In a very typical local bar Claudia will make us a lovely aperitivo, whether you fancy the so trendy Spritz, a glass of Prosecco, or an old classic Moretti beer!

From Somana a fairly flat path among olive trees will take us to Maggiana, a hamlet famous for its tower, stay of Frederick Redbeard in the XII century. Our walk will now descend to the picturesque San Giorgio church, built on a spur of rocks in the XIII century. Back at Mandello’s train station round 7.30 p.m. in time for your dinner!
