Flowers and gardens in the most romantic place in the world!
People from all over the world come here to admire the unique landscape of this lake, and we begin our journey from a small but incredible museum dedicated to the landscape, a virtual Grand Tour of antique prints, films and photographs that tell us about one of the most romantic places in the world. We take a break with a sandwich and a glass of wine in the ancient lakeside garden of Villa Meyer and are ready for the short walk along the greenway with a view of the lake that leads us to the highlight of our day.
Villa Carlotta has just reopened its gates, tourists still few, gardeners at work and the first camellias, the best time to tour the length and breadth of this precious botanical site: citrus gallery , arboreal rhododendrons, bamboo forest, but also the villa’s ancient olive grove and vegetable gardens. Obviously, we cannot fail to take a look at the Sommariva collection inside the building, marvels of neoclassical art and signs left by the owners of this prestigious mansion on the Lario, Calmly we enjoy every corner of this marvel! A few kilometres, but so much beauty. One last stop for an affogato or a coffee in the ancient greenhouse and it’s time to head back (well, those with a little more money to spend could enjoy spending a night in the neighbouring Grand Hotel Tremezzo… but maybe next time!)
