Here we go again to Val d’Intelvi and back to Schignano after experiencing their exciting Carnival.
The same craftsmen who make the Bei and Brut masks here have indulged in dotting a path through meadows and forests with all kinds of wood carvings . Joy and sadness, dream and history, are represented here in a magical combination of the beauty of nature and the art of man.
A beautiful route from the hamlet of Posa takes us up to Monte Comana to enjoy a remarkable view of the lake. We continue into the woods and then back to Pian d’erba where the view can sweep across. The subjects of the sculptures here become more historical, reminding us that the so-called Cadorna Line, a bulwark defending our northern border, passed nearby. We soon arrive at the Colma di Binate where, among ancient huts, we can admire the structure of a neviera (the refrigerator of yesteryear). A steep downhill road takes us back to our starting point. How many wonders in this secluded Lario valley!
