Dorsale del Lario

See Lake Como like no other. Como-Bellagio, an epic journey along the ridge connecting the two pearls of the lake. A strategic vantage point for the best views, and the personal satisfaction of doing it on foot!

Difficulty: Not technically difficult, a certain level of fitness is required to walk this distance.

Day One

From Como we ascend to Brunate by funicular railway (cost included), then start walking at 715 metres above sea level. From Brunate along an easy mule track we pass Baita Carla, Baita Bondella, Baita Boletto Fabrizi, Monte Bolletto. From here, we cross the cool and atmospheric Sentiero dei Faggi (Beech Trail ) with its centuries-old trees to Bocchetta di Lemna, where the trail becomes a mule track again, until we reach our evening stop: Rifugio Riella (1,275 metres above sea level). After a well-deserved rest, we deposit our rucksacks and those who wish can climb to the summit of Palanzone (1,436 metres above sea level). The 360° panoramic view will allow you to see both branches of Lake Como and Lecco, the mountains of the Larian Triangle, and the lakes of Brianza. Followed by Dinner, Wine, Chatting, Laughter, and a well-deserved rest at the Refuge.

Second Day

After a good breakfast, from Rifugio Riella we continue on a mule track, first uphill and then lose a little altitude, descending on a path to Colma di Sormano (1,100m). Second breakfast is a must given the goodness of the cakes available. Still on the mule track we first climb toAlpe Spessola (1,237 m), and then to Alpe di Terrabiotta (1,536 m) where we enjoy a sublime panorama of Bellagio and the upper Lario. On the slopes of Monte San Primo (1672 metres above sea level) we will enjoy our Lunch al Sacco (we can ask the Rifugio to prepare sandwiches for us) and then descend towards Bellagio. along the ridge to Monte Nuvolone (1085 metres above sea level) . In the lakeside village, if the season is favourable, we can also dive (perhaps partially…) into the refreshing waters.

Return

From Bellagio via boat we return peacefully to our departure point, travelling along the entire Comasco branch of the lake. The numerous period villas parading in front of us invite us to dream… and a well-deserved drink is not to be missed. The return to Como will be around 9 pm (to be verified according to the seasonal timetable of the Navigazione)
