Legendary Panoramic Peak in the Heart of Lake Como
In the heart of the Larian triangle, the summit of Monte Palanzone at 1436m offers a great panoramaover the mountains of Lecco, Brianza, Lake Montorfano and the Alps; on a clear day the majestic Monte Rosa stands out.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the car park (900m) we immediately take the Sentiero Segantini (Segantini Path), which leads us through a splendid fir wood to the Colma di Caglio (1127m). We continue up to Braga di Cavallo (1354m) via path or cemented road depending on snow conditions. From here, the landscape opens up, we descend through an alpine pasture for about 1km before tackling the final ascent to the summit of Palanzone (1436m). We have lunch at the summit, after which we descend to Rif.Riella (1275m) for a well-deserved coffee (and cake!). An alternative path will take us just below the Colma di Caglio, and from here we take the Segantini path back to the car park.
Hiking boots, in case of snow Ramponcini (we can rent them for 5€) water, packed lunch, trekking poles if usually used, spare T-shirt, jumper or fleece, down jacket or similar, protection from rain and wind.
