A loop hike on one of the most scenic peaks: overlooking the Orobie Alps, Lake Como and Briantei, and the Monte Rosa massif!
Fancy a summit, altitude difference, little-trodden paths? Monte Due Mani is little frequented compared to its cousin Resegone next to it, we will climb along a splendid path among the less-trodden, skirting the Valle Desio stream.
From the smiling village of Maggio, a comfortable mule track starts, which becomes a path near the stream. Between small waterfalls, puddles and the rushing of the waters, the path climbs gently and then quickly gains altitude. We alternate between the path and the mule track to rest our legs a little, passing splendid mountain huts. When we reach the Desio pass, the final challenge begins, the last 300m steep climb to the summit! Step by step, the panorama becomes more and more incredible!
Packed lunch at altitude at 1666m; we descend the first section on the ascent path and then continue along the cool mule track. We pass a pond rich in amphibians such as salamanders and crested newts!
