A fantastic weekend to reach the most representative peak in the Lecco mountains, Grigna Settentrionale 2,410 m!
We do this in our own style, taking 2 days to fully enjoy the beauty of the places: the Leonardo glacier, the Moncodeno alpine pasture, the valley of the chamois, the extraordinary karst of the places. We dine and sleep at the Rifugio Bogani 1,816 m, owned by the CAI of Monza and managed for almost thirty years by Mariangela, Enrico and company, and among the specialities we will not miss the ‘patole’, do you know them? Day One
We leave the cars at the Vo’ di Moncodeno car park, above the Cainallo hotel, and follow the path through woods and rock walls to the Bogani hut, passing by the Moncodeno alpine pasture (cheese production).
Once at the hut, after settling in whoever wants to explore the surroundings before dinner, we can go to the famous Grigna glacier (now without ice…) or walk part of the Via del Nevaio in search of chamois (see video below!).
Approx. 3.5 km, difference in altitude + 500 m up to the refuge, then we will add any digressions starting from the refuge with a light rucksack
Second day
After an invigorating breakfast, we set off on the most demanding part of the route, the difference in altitude is not great, we follow the via della Ganda which, once out of the forest, develops in a landscape of pure rock, among scree, dolines, caves and high altitude flowers. Final destination the Brioschi refuge at the summit of the Grignone
THE ROUTE HAS EQUIPPED SECTIONS WHERE IT IS NECESSARY TO KEEP YOURSELF SAFE BY USING CHAINS, NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO MOUNTAIN TRAILS

EXCLUDED FROM COST: Packed lunch on the first and second day (possibility of eating something at the refuge) and everything not mentioned above
WHAT TO BRING: Hiking shoes, layered clothing suitable for rain/wind, poles not essential but useful, sun cream, hat, backpack, water bottle. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any special requirements or clarifications. Sheet bag (can be purchased at the refuge for €5). We sleep in a dormitory at a mountain refuge, bathrooms are shared, no showers.
DIFFICULTY: The pace will always be leisurely, but the final part of the climb to the summit is equipped and requires some attention . Km and altitude difference are indicated in the 2-day details.
TIME AND MEETING POINT: We meet on Saturday at 10.30 am at the GALLI EZIO car park in via Fiandra 15 in Lecco.
From there with a few cars we reach the pay car park above the Cainallo hotel in Esino Lario (LC) in about 50 minutes. ( If anyone would like to arrive in Lecco by train, please contact me ) Return to Lecco on the second day at about 5 p.m.
